How do I treat Black Knot?
Black Knot is a fungal disease that has infected an entire tree or shrub by the time it is visible. It cannot be cured, but it can be controlled or managed with the intention of extending the life of the plant and maintaining the appeal of the plant.
Most often, sections of the tree or shrub containing black knot can be pruned to reduce the spread of the disease.
** Proper pruning techniques should be used.
** In addition, pruning tools should be cleaned often with a bleach solution to reduce the spread of disease.
** Finally, any infected branches should be destroyed after pruning.
